When you’re a smaller wrestling company and WWE comes knocking, you are at least going to crack the door open. While some companies were keen to keep running on their own, several gladly partnered up with WWE. These include EVOLVE Wrestling, Progress Wrestling from England, Westside Xtreme Wrestling from Germany and Insane Championship Wrestling from Scotland.
After years of teases of WWE adding content from these companies to their streaming service, the WWE Network. What can we expect to see?
Two Best Of Collections Will Come For Evolve Wrestling
We won’t be seeing the full libraries of these companies instantly uploaded, but we will see some full shows alongside two ‘Best Of’ collections for some huge stars. These are Drew McIntyre and Keith Lee.
Drew McIntyre was involved in both EVOLVE Wrestling & Insane Championship Wrestling, being a former EVOLVE Champion as well as former ICW Heavyweight Champion. WWE.com advertises matches against the likes of Ricochet, Johnny Gargano, Roderick Strong, Aleister Black and Matt Riddle. This leans towards his time in EVOLVE, with an ICW collection likely set to come down the line.
Keith Lee is also getting a collection of some of his matches from EVOLVE Wrestling. Advertised are matches with Timothy Thatcher, WALTER and Riddle. Also to be included is a pair of early battles against his rival and close friend, Dominik Dijakovic.
ICW, Progress, & WXW Have Full Shows Coming To WWE Network
If Evolve Wrestling isn’t what you’re looking for, we will get four full indy shows uploaded as well. ICW will see Night 2 of Shug’s Hoose Party 5 uploaded, a show which has names like Piver Niven, James Storm, Grado, Jeff Cobb and more. wXw will see two shows uploaded, wXw Ambition 11 and wXw Femme Fatales 2019. Finally, Progress will have Chapter 92 uploaded, which has a main event of WALTER vs. Ilja Dragonauv.
These shows will likely be edited much like old ECW shows, removing copyrighted music and other slight issues. This will give WWE fans a look into the past of some of their favorites, as well as expose them to new wrestlers they might not see otherwise.
