Two of the best wrestlers on Monday Night RAW meet in the main event of Main Event this week, as Humberto Carillo takes on Murphy. They’ve been clashing a lot as part of the Rollins vs. Mysterio feud, with Murphy as the disciple of Rollins, and Carillo a friend of Mysterio. Murphy has been the dominant one in this mini-rivalry, but would that change on this episode of Main Event?
Humberto Carillo Starts This Match Fast
Murphy would take control early in this match, going after the left arm of Carillo with an arm wrench into a lock. He knows Carillo can’t be allowed to get moving, so wanted to start this slow. Instead, Carillo would show his lucha skills to break this hold, only for Murphy to fire back with the same sequence to regain it.
Carillo would break out again and grab a side headlock to no success. The strikes would start to fly with some slaps, but the size and power of Murphy got him the advantage after a shoulder block. Carillo wouldn’t stay down long, hitting the ropes and nailing a running hurricanrana, sending Murphy to the ropes where he’d run up them to hit an arm drag. This sent Murphy to the outside, and despite quickly getting back to the apron, he’d be sent into the plexiglass with a running dropkick as we would go to a commercial break.
Coming back from the break, Murphy has regained control and would be beating down Carillo in the ring. Murphy is rougher than usual in this one, really laying in his shots, but Carillo can give as good as he can take. He’d nail a big elbow strike, but couldn’t lift Murphy due to repeated attacks to the lower back.
Murphy Does It For The Greater Good
Murphy would apply a chinlock in the middle of the ring, and force Carillo to push him into the corner to break it. They’d move to the outside, where Murphy would send Carillo back first into the barricade and then backdrop him on the apron. He’d remind Carillo this is for the greater good, before throwing him hard across the ring again and again, until Carillo hit his second wind.
Carillo would hit a big lariat and a handspring elbow, adrenaline helping him push through the pain. He’d go up top for a missile dropkick to the back of the head, a tribute to Tiger Mask done perfectly, with it dropping Murphy. Carillo would be high again for his moonsault, but miss and allow Murphy to nail a huge running knee strike for the win.
As expected from these two, this match was fantastic, better than their recent matches on Monday Night RAW. Murphy won in the end, but Carillo looked fantastic in the process. Would you like to see them meet again at Summerslam? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
