After the events on last week’s WWE Raw, there’s little doubt that someone else would come out in response to Ric Flair being punted.
A few weeks back, we expected it to be Triple H, but maybe they’re saving that for after Randy Orton beats Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam? Just saying, and you heard it here first.
Honestly, we’d like to think that’s not going to happen, but with the WWE desperately working to right their ship and regain viewers, is anything not possible?
Ties that bind
Our reasoning for it to be Triple H confronting Orton previously was mainly due to their Evolution days, but now that Flair’s been punted, it also makes sense for Shawn Michaels to put in an appearance.
He was the one that retired Flair, after all, so it makes sense.
Michaels idolized Flair, so tonight we expect him to come out and call out Randy Orton.
The thing is, will Michaels also bring D-X with him in the form of the Road Dogg and Triple H, or go solo?
Either way, he’ll have backup
McIntyre factor
Drew McIntyre was incensed last week after Orton punted Flair, and we expect him to be looking for Orton tonight.
When Michaels calls Orton out, and assuming Orton responds, we expect McIntyre will strike then and he’ll either take Orton out or there’ll be a huge scrum with talent and security separating the two men.
This is the one thing that’s been missing from their buildup to SummerSlam, and with it less than a week away, it’d be the perfect time.
This would be a moment where Orton’s calm demeanor would work perfectly, and he could slip out fo the ring or their location backstage while McIntyre is being held back.
Seeing Orton so calm and McIntyre incensed would then lead to fans siding with McIntyre for obvious reasons against Orton.
But it’d also put a tinge of doubt in fans’ minds as Orton would be as cool as a cucumber.
It also plays into the theory going around on social media that Orton didn’t really punt Flair.
Obviously, the WWE wouldn’t have an older individual like Flair take the risk, but also storyline wise, it could’ve been worked out where they faked everyone out and Flair will return to help Orton at SummerSlam.
It may even be a rejoining of Evolution if Triple H serves as the power on the throne behind the scenes.
While this seems unlikely, it’s been a fun theory to see grow day by day.
The one thing we feel we can say for sure is Michaels will confront Orton in some way. Whether it’ll lead to an attack or not is another matter.
What do you think will happen with Michaels’ arrival tonight on WWE Raw?
