WWE Raw looks like it’s going to be a fun night as we dig through the aftermath of SummerSlam and begin seeing new rivalries formed.
Kevin Owens Show with Aleister Black
We haven’t seen Aleister Black for a couple of weeks since his last run in with Seth Rollins and Murphy on WWE Raw.
There have been plenty of rumors out there that Vince McMahon likes Black, but doesn’t think his gimmick is designed for the long term.
In fact, we’ve seen the removal of his lift entrance the last several times he had a match, so that was most likely the beginning of said change.
During his guest commentary on SummerSlam, Kevin Owens said he’s going to have Black on tonight’s “The Kevin Owens Show.”
With the Mysterio and Rollins feud all but exhausted, we expect these two to step back into that role.
This feels like the safe bet given how the WWE has been booking the feud, and we can expect a Black Rollins or tag team match at Payback next week.
Keith Lee Debuts
This has been something we’ve been expecting since the last Survivor Series when it was announced that Keith Lee was a favorite of the powers-that-be.
Given that, it wasn’t much of a surprise to us that he was moved to the main brands after he lost the NXT Championship. It’s a right of passage, so to speak, and he’ll be a great addition to Raw.
The question is who will he face first? There are a few choices, but we expect him to become the new focus of MVP and the Hurt Business.
This makes sense given Lee is a new, young talent and with his feud over with Apollo Crews, this makes sense for MVP.
Of course, we also expect Bobby Lashley to challenge Crews for the United States Championship.
This would give Crews and company an additional powerhouse to help fend off the Hurt Business.
Or maybe Keith Lee turns heel and joins the Hurt Business and overthrows MVP like the Rock did Farooq in the Nation of Domination in the 90s?
History often repeats, especially on WWE Raw.
Raw Underground – Dolph Ziggler vs. Ivar
WWE Raw Underground has been building a following over the last few weeks. They’ve added a sense of realism to the show that is showing wrestlers in a darker, harsher light that adds layers to them.
Tonight, we’ll see the first higher profile scheduled match as Dolph Ziggler and Ivar of the Viking Raiders face off.
This is a cool step forward for the segment, and it should help establish it further in fans’ eyes and possibly lead to its own brand if it’s handled right.
As for who will win, we think Ziggler will pull this out.
There are no rules, and he’s happy to do whatever he can to win.
We also expect this to be one of the better matches of the night despite it not being a “wrestling” match.
There’s going to be plenty more in store for us on WWE Raw tonight (it is a three hour show), but these are some of the highlights we’re looking forward to.
What do you think will happen tonight? Let us know your picks and segments you’d like to see in the comments below, and check back for out WWE Raw Live Results and Recap starting at showtime tonight at 8 p.m. est.
