Welcome to WWE Smackdown Results!
It looks like we’re in for an interesting night before heading to WWE Payback this Sunday (8/30).
Let’s get this show started.
The night started with a recap of SummerSlam’s main event between The Fiend and Braun Strowman, and Roman Reigns’ return.
It switched to a security team meeting backstage where he listed Braun Strowman, Bray Wyatt, and Roman Reigns, and Vince McMahon were in the building.
A small nod to Retribution was also added in.
The security chief, Adam Pierce, then reported to Vince, and Vince pointed out he looked a little nervous.
Vince then added that he had a mission for his Pierce (we’re smelling a Test type of character here) to get Wyatt, Reigns, and Strowman’s signatures.
Vince told him to start with the Fiend, or he could start with Bray Wyatt at the Firefly Fun House if he can’t find the Fiend.
Vince even gave him a costume change and when asked if he was serious, Vince replied, “Deadly” He then added for the security chief to not fail him.
If they’re calling him Pierce, there’s going to be a plan for him, and that only makes this more interesting.
Jeff clocks Styles
Jeff Hardy came out to officially start the ring portion of the show to celebrate his Intercontinental Championship win.
A recap of his injury and his following victory over AJ Style set the tone.
Jeff said he’s “tinkled pink to be standing anywhere.” He added he’s not one to be complacent on his successes and started to say he was ready to defend his title tonight when AJ Styles’ music played.
Styles came out asking if it was real, and that Jeff seemed pretty proud for using his knee brace (that he needed because of Styles) to help him win last week.
Styles accused him of being a liar and a cheat, and said Jeff can blame him if he wants to. He added he had injured before, but he never went to a doctor to whine and cry to get an illegal object put on him.
Jeff stood stoically as he listened to Styles as he said that same doctor that cleared Jeff to compete but he hasn’t cleared Styles.
Styles pointed out how he’s working the system, and Jeff countered by saying he was going to offer an open challenge to anyone in the locker room except Styles.
Jeff then clubbed Styles when Styles came for him and we headed to commercial. Nothing like starting WWE Smackdown Results with a smackdown.
