Byron Paxon, a current commentator and ring announcer at WWE was going to be part of a faction. In an interview in the Podcast Feel The Power which is a New Day Podcast where they go through their wrestling journey.
These types of podcasts really tell some great behind the scenes information including the weird things that get picked to go ahead on WWE stories. If all of them came true, we would have some crazier things going on in the company. Imagine some of the pitches we don’t know about.
In the post, the New Day said :
“The plan was a faction of me, Bryon Saxton, and Woods when we were in FCW. We got to do it in promo practice. We were excited about it but it never saw the light of day on any shows. That was in 2014 which is what sparked the idea for the New Day. Honestly, if we had not done that when we were in FCW, who knows where my career would be or where Woods would be. Kofi would still be fine I’m sure.”
Woods added:
“The plan was the People’s Liberation of American Nationalism. It was a situation where we all tried to stay in one lane. I was the smallest guy in the group so I was the extreme hothead because I would be the one yelling. E was the muscle. Saxton was the calm and collected one.”
Did this end up as the New Day?
This seems to be the original plan for the New Day but with Bryon Saxton, Bryan Jesús Kelly on his real name. At that time that was massive for New Day as they weren’t currently used on the roster. Looking at what they had planned for the faction though. Maybe it’s a good thing as later on they form the New Day. One of the best factions in WWE history.
