Dominik Mysterio is here to stay in WWE, now with a new home on Smackdown Live alongside his father. He faced trial by fire, and was thrown into the thick of things with a big debut match at Summerslam against Seth Rollins, and proved to be a natural in the ring. Now, we know a match he’d love to have during his career, one that would span generations.
Dominik Mysterio Wants To Face David Benoit
During an appearance on the Chris Van Vilet show, a wide range of topics would be covered. Everything from what are some of his favorite matches from his dads legendary career, to who he’d like to face going forward. One name came up, a childhood friend and fellow student of Lance Storm… David Benoit, son of the infamous Chris Benoit.
“I think that in itself is a historic generational match because that’s so cool. I haven’t talked to David in a while, but we’ve communicated when I was at Storm’s because, I believe, he lives in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and that’s a three-hour drive from Calgary. So, we communicated and we’ve talked before, and I would like to say we were good friends back in the day because our parents would always take us out to dinner together. We would go to eat at Rainforest Cafe and go to Dinosaur Museums together, so it was really cool, and I’d love to eventually work with him one day.”
He’d also note Randy Orton, Andrade & Humberto Carillo as men who he wants to face going forward, but Benoit is the most interesting of the bunch. Benoit has traded off and on for years, but has never really made the major push into an industry where his dad has a muddy reputation at best.
Chris Benoit & Rey Mysterio Had Some Classic Matches
Seeing as they were in WCW & WWE together, Chris Benoit and Rey Mysterio had plenty of times to get into the ring. They were part of the legendary Smackdown Six, and alongside Edge & Kurt Angle, they had one of the best tag team matches in WWE history at No Mercy in 2002. Dominik Mysterio and David Benoit could bring this feud into the next generation, and if David had half the natural wrestling talent of his dad? It’d be a classic.
