If you’ve been following the actions of former WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio in recent years, this news will not be a shock to you. Del Rio was arrested back in May after allegations of serious assault were launched his way, and the trial is coming. He has been indicted on one count of aggravated kidnapping and four counts of sexual assault.
What Did Alberto Del Rio Do?
As per the arrest report back in May, Del Rio (real name Jose Alberto Rodriguez Chucuan) had become violent with a woman and physically assaulted her after accusing her of infidelity. She would not admit to this, be slapped across the head several times. The victim also said that Chucuan forced her to “wear a dress and dance for him” and if she did not comply, he would “take her son and drop him in the middle of the road somewhere”. She had documented her injuries with photographs.
This isn’t even getting into the absolutely disgusting sexual assault she endured at his hands, the whole incident lasting around 16 hours. He even tried to burn her passport and smashed her laptop, phone and other computer. She has since gotten away from him, and had intentions to leave San Antonio as soon as possible, and you can’t blame her. This is something that will stay with her the rest of her life, something incredibly hard to come back from.
Facing Up To 20 Years In Prison
It shows the true nature of Chucuan, someone who has left multiple companies on bad terms due to a poor attitude backstage. In Texas, where this act took place, the sentence for kidnapping is somewhere between 5 years and life in prison, as well as a fine up to $10,000. If he can prove he let the victim go willingly, it would lessen the sentence to between 2 and 20 years however. In addition, sexual assault would add another 2 to 20 on top of this. Needless to say, if all the evidence adds up, Chucuan will not be seeing the outside world for a long time, and that is what he deserves.
