Killian Dain & Drake Maverick are becoming the new mismatched tag team in NXT. The power of Dain and the infectious enthusiasm of Maverick are a great combo, even with them losing to Imperium last week. They look to bounce back this week, against Ever-Rise, who made the mistake of attacking Maverick after the match last week.
Dain would kick their asses, and say ‘No one hits him, but me!’. That sums up where they are at starting this match, but they’re always growing.
Drake Maverick Snaps
Maverick would be shoved into the ring, and was keen to start this match off with Chase Parker. He’d be pushed into the corner, and Matt Martel came in, hit a backbreaker and let Parker rush in with a knee strike. Maverick was starting his role in this match early, being a punching bag. Ever-Rise would throw him around the ring, hit their classic assisted elbow drop, but then mouth off to Dain.
Maverick would counter a backdrop for long enough to make the tag, and Dain would take out both members of Ever-Rise himself. He’d nail the Divide and look for the Samoan Drop, but Martel hit the chop block. Dain would be locked in the single leg crab, and Martel would call Dain a loser like Maverick. You don’t insult his best friend, and Maverick went wild and beat Ever-Rise with a chair.
This gets them a win via DQ, and even Dain was shocked by this side of Maverick. He’d brace to get punched by Dain, but Dain absolutely loved this! This is the partner Dain wanted! Where was he hiding! Maverick would then dance to their uppity entrance music, and Dain walked away with a scowl.
