WWE Speculation - Randy Orton Defeats Drew McIntyre at Hell in a Cell

After this week’s WWE Raw (9/28), it appears that Randy Orton will defeat Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship in another rematch at Hell in a Cell.

While it’s not set in stone, Orton said that McIntyre doesn’t know what hell is and he’d show him. To us, this obviously meant he’ll get another rematch at Hell in a Cell on October 25.

This presents a few problems with the WWE.

    Treading water

We think the WWE is just treading water until their draft on October 9 and 12, meaning they’re trying to find anything to keep us invested until they move the roster around.

This also means stretching out a couple of feuds, which means we can expects a few wrestlers to remain on Raw or at least head to Smackdown together.

One of those is the beyond exhausted Seth Rollins-Mysterio family feud, and another is Randy Orton and Drew McIntyre.

Since we expect both of those to face off at Hell in a Cell, we don’t expect them to be broken up.

But then this is the WWE, so we’ll have to wait and see.

    Orton to win at HIAC?

We’re huge Randy Orton fans, but him getting a third match against McIntyre seems a bit much.

Sure, McIntyre barely won at Clash of Champions with a 5 on 1 advantage, making another match seem a bygone conclusion.

It’s natural and makes sense in a roundabout sort of way. In short, it’s standard WWE modus operandi.

One of the problems here is it takes away from any surprise the WWE is planning for their draft as we know these two will remain on the same show or violate the brand separation.

This and previous actions point to the need to forget about the brand separation and draft, but that’s another topic.

The build up hints that Orton will win, and to be honest, he should. But he should’ve been the one to defeat Kofi Kingston, too, but that didn’t happen.

If he does, it’ll open up a new set of rivalries as everyone will be falling all over themselves to get a shot at him and it’ll push him into the stratosphere as the apex predator as he’ll have to play defense.

But this undermines a potential McIntyre-Keith Lee feud that’s been teased for a couple of weeks prior.

Sure, they can face off for a chance at the title, but it won’t have the same flare.

However, if it’s a triple threat match at Hell in a Cell between Lee, McIntyre, and Orton, Orton can walk away with the championship and no one’s weaker.

In fact, Lee and McIntyre could come out of it stronger in fans’ eyes after abusing each other in the match.

There’s no denying this match is meant to keep us interested while the WWE shuffles the deck for a refresh, and then create reasons to move wrestlers back and forth when it falls flat again.

At least, we should get a great match and new champion out of it? What do you think? Let us know in the comment below.
