It’s more First Month Fire with ECW Hardcore TV and its third show from April 19, 1993.
This episode features the semi-finals and finals of the ECW Television Championship tournament. We also have hostilities brewing between Rockin‘ Rebel and The Sandman.
The major storyline is the boiling feud between color commentator Terry Funk and Eddie Gilbert. If you’re following on the WWE Network, you’re in for a treat with a dope Terry Funk promo after getting a little payback on Hot Stuff!
Low-Tier
Let’s get to these matches. Hunter Q. Robbins III sicced his Super Destroyers on two scrubs in another sub-meh match.
Even though he’s a scrub, Super Ninja had a better mask than the Super Destroyers. It’s the small victories, folks.
Jimmy Snuka snuck in a win over Tommy Cairo and advances to the finals. Yes, there was interference from Eddie Gilbert. Hot Stuff International is hunting gold and taking it by any means.
This wasn’t a horrible match, it was just boring with the interference being the most eventful thing in it. The same goes for the other semi-final between Eddie Gilbert and Glen Osbourne.
Now, the second semi-final featured more underhanded tactics. Play-by-play commentator Jay Sulli was fed up with Gilbert’s camp cheating and told the referee.
After the ref found the illegal object, he reversed the decision making the finals Snuka vs. Osbourne.
After being turned down and slapped by The Sandman’s valet/wife Peaches, Rockin’ Rebel runs through a scrub in a squash match. Rebel then drags Hak’s wife back to the ring by her hair!
He looks poised to commit an act that would get him a couple of months behind bars when The Sandman comes to her rescue! Hideous save but Peaches is safe.
While Hak is beating up Rebel, the tantalizing Tigra jumps on Sandman’s back and starts clawing his eyes.
Now, I’m thinking that Philadelphia Surfer Sting is about to flip Tigra and ragdoll her across the ring. Instead, Rockin’ Rebel breaks Sandman’s surfboard across his head!
The faces come in and run Rebel off then check on Hak. Mediocre but clean squash by Rebel but the angle made this worth catching.
In the finals we had Snuka vs. Glen Osbourne was also a pretty short and uneventful match. It wasn’t a squash but no one was surprised when Snuka won it.
ECW Hardcore TV #3 Verdict: Low-Tier (4/10)
The main thing to watch from this episode are the angles for Gilbert vs. Funk and Sandman vs. Rebel. You could honestly skip the matches and miss very little.
Even then, you really just want to catch the Gilbert vs. Funk stuff.
