It’s not often we get two pay-per-view matches on the same weekly show, but it looks like WWE Smackdown Preview has hit the jackpot this week.
The first match is for the WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championship as the Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford) defend their titles against Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler.
To be honest, we expected this match to be held at TLC, and it makes us wonder if they’ll be a rematch or if a new opponent for the Street Profits is lined up.
Given the barren wasteland that is the WWE tag team division, we doubt there’s another one ready to step up unless someone’s returning from injury, an older team is reformed, or one was called up from NXT.

Facing the Slammy winners
While it’s widely believed that the Street Profits will win the Slammy Award for Best Tag Team, it doesn’t mean they’re not going to face stiff competition tonight.
As we mentioned above, this is a pay-per-view caliber match as Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler are more than formidable and can take the titles off anyone they face, and we think they’ll be at their best.
The problem with them is they’re booked to be a comedy team, stopgap, and jobbers more than not. It’s because of that they never gain much fan support except from their die hard fans.
And yes, WWE Smackdown Preview are huge fans of Roode and Ziggler, but that’s a story for another time.
While we’re looking forward to this match, we can’t help but wonder why the WWE chose to sidestep the tried and true formula of having each member have a singles match leading to the title match.
We’re not complaining, just observing since it kinda caught us off guard. Still, we expect this to be a great match.
Normally, we’d pick the Street Profits to win this match and retain their titles, but there could be a plot twist coming up.
PPV rematch?
Since the Street Profits aren’t scheduled to appear at TLC, we think it’s possible they’ll lose tonight and then face Roode and Ziggler at TLC in a rematch.
Of course, it’s possible that tonight’s match ends in no contest or someone will get jumped backstage, forcing Roode and Dawkins to face off in a singles match and the tag title match will then be held at TLC.
It’s pure speculation, but it’s not unexpected given how the WWE has been trying to be more spontaneous and recapture the Attitude Era feeling fans have been begging for.
