It’s time once again for the NXT ring to morph into the dangerous Fight Pit. Last time, it was Timothy Thatcher & Matt Riddle going to war after a messing tag team breakup. Now it’s time for another round.

Thatcher is back, and this time will face Tommaso Ciampa. Ciampa called out Thatcher for having a fake “tough guy” persona, and for abusing his Thatch-as-Thatch-can students. He knows this is false after their last encounter, but they still need to see who is better.

Only one man will be standing after what promises to be an insane fight. There are no ropes, just steel. You can’t be pinned, only knocked out or submitted.

    Fighting Above The Pit

Ciampa & Thatcher started on that upper platform, ten feet above the ring. They’d slug it out in the corner, and Ciampa wanted to throw Thatcher not to the ring, but all the way to the mats, twenty feet down! Thatcher fought free and saved his life, before grinding the face of Ciampa on the guardrails.

A big belly to belly suplex on the upper platform was followed by a single leg crab, but Ciampa was able to kick his way free. Ciampa took control and nailed Thatcher with some chops, making the chest beat red. Thatcher had his face smushed into the guard rails, before being slingshotted into steel.

As we went to picture-in-picture, they finally left the top of the fight pit and made their way to the pit. Thatcher was thrown into the steel, and had his face kneed into the steel next, the referee starting the count.

    Surrounded By Steel

Ciampa was thrown into the steel next, and then had his hands bent in the steel. Thatcher bounced Ciampa off the steel for a belly to belly suplex, before applying the double wrist lock. Ciampa broke the hold, but had his fingers smashed off the canvas, causing him to scream in pain as Thatcher smiled.

Thatcher got cocky and got thrown into the cage, then fell back onto the knees of Ciampa. A perfect heel hook would be applied, and Thatcher got a kick to the spine as well. Ciampa was pushed into the steel, then the sleeper hold would be attempted by Thatcher, but a low blow broke the hold. That’s legal in this match.

Timothy Thatcher Almost Takes Ciampas Leg Off

Thatcher hunched over referee Drake Wuertz, and Ciampa noticed to hit the Willows Bell! He got up at 9, before taking a forearm to the head and entered a slugfest with Ciampa. Ciampa grabbed the head of Thatcher and smacked it off the steel, before hitting Fairytale Ending and locking in a sleeper hold.

Thatcher hit his second wind and broke the hold, and wedged Ciampa in the corner of the Fight Pit, and applied the Stretch Muffler. Ciampa was tied up, and had to tap or lose the leg. Thatcher remains undefeated in the Fight Pit.

The Fight Pit is becoming the best gimmick match in WWE, and this was another incredible showing. It had less flash than the Riddle match, but that’s okay. It was absolutely brutal, and played to the strengths of both men involved. The finish was one of the best submission wins in WWE history, and Thatcher has never looked this good. Match Rating: 4.25/5 (**** ¼)

After the match, there was more respect from these two men. You can’t take a beating like that from each other without gaining some respect. What is next for Timothy Thatcher after this huge win? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
