Floyd Mayweather has revealed that he has set out the fights that he wants to be involved in over the next 12 months. There is certainly interest in everything that the American does, as he is one of the most popular boxers of all-time according to the PPV buys that he has achieved throughout his career.
But, there would be surprise with the two names that he has called out this week, as he plans to take on another YouTuber, as well as a famous rapper.
Boxing News: Mayweather Targets Unlikely Opponents
During the revelation regarding his plans, Mayweather also announced that he wants to return to fight in Japan in a number of lucrative exhibition bouts. But, the two names that he announced that caught the headlines were Jake Paul and 50 Cent. Jake Paul would certainly be the most interesting from a boxing perspective, as the YouTuber has fared reasonably well in the two professional fights that he has had so far in his career. He has already picked up two wins, but neither of the opponents that he has come up against have been anywhere near the level of Mayweather.
His first win came against fellow YouTube star AnEsonGib, before he beat former NBA star Nate Robison at the back end of 2020. Any chance of this fight happening will likely hinge on his performance in April, as Paul is stepping back in the ring to take on his biggest challenge to date. He will meet UFC star Ben Askren on April 17, and Mayweather will be a keen observer. Mayweather and 50 Cent have been at loggerheads on countless occasions in the past, and the former champion revealed that he would do an exhibition fight against the rapper without any weight classifications in place.
Boxing News: Mayweather vs Paul Pushed Back
Some boxing fans may have been looking forward to the announced bout that was scheduled to take place at the end of February between Logan Paul and Mayweather. However, it has been revealed by the YouTuber that the fight has been delayed. It is believed that the delay is due to ‘business complications’.
Paul was relaxed when talking about the delay on his YouTube channel, as he claimed that it would benefit him more so than the 15-time world champion. The delay will likely unfazed Mayweather, as he has a 50-0 perfect record, while Paul will be looking for a first professional win after being beaten by KSI in 2019.
