Nothing like some fun storylines to help build up mid-card talent and build for something greater, and Impact Wrestling No Surrender Preview can’t wait.
Cody Deaner, referred to simply as Deaner by Eric Young, will be facing Jake Something, formerly Cousin Jake, in a brutal fight to cleanse Jake of the sickness.
As Young said, it’s a family thing and will be handled within the family and this has opened a fun storyline that brings to mind real world cults and their various initiation practices.
Jake has made it clear he no longer thinks he has a family and is fighting for himself while Deaner is fighting to bring him into his new family.
This will be an interesting match as we’ll see if there’s anyone able or willing to come to Jake’s aid if he needs it, or if he’ll be able to resist Violence By Design’s strength in numbers to remain free.

More intriguing by the day
As much as we expect Jake to keep fighting against joining and be the driving force that brings VBD down, we think he’ll join and be reunited with Deaner.
With that being said, it won’t surprise us if Jake does eventually bring VBD down from the inside at some point, assuming he’ll play up his role in the group until the right time.
This storyline has the potential to become something special as Young’s not trying to take over the wrestling world, but cure it of the mindset of people giving their all and getting nothing in return.
In many ways, it’s similar to what Brian Myers’ persona has been railing against since being released by the WWE and coming to Impact, just like Eric Young.
Could he be on Young’s radar? It’s a possibility, but we don’t think that’ll happen as Myers is on his own path to getting what he feels he deserves.
This is one of the more entertaining storylines we’ve seen in general in professional wrestling lately, and we’re excited to see where it goes and who else will VBD target to bring into their family.
There are plenty of possibilities, though we expect Young to keep it small and to the ones he feels have been overlooked or abused the most.
