Roman Reigns has given his fans an insight into how he goes about navigating the complex world of sneaker shopping. Roman is known for his hard-hitting style, but not so much is spoken about his footwear, and by all accounts, his style is as good as his wrestling.
Roman Reigns Takes His Fans Through All Things Sneakers
In an interview with Complex’s Sneaker, Roman revealed how his growth spurt as a teen created a problem in finding the correct footwear. He said: “It was just hard because, by the time I was 15, I was already wearing a [size] 15. I went through the whole clown feet phase. At first, we started calling, and we’d hear, “no” a bunch, they [didn’t have size 15].”
But given that he is now a global star, he spoke on his favourite sneakers, and those were none other than Nike. The sneakers matched not only his good footwork but the style and bravado that Roman brings to the ring. After all, who could forget ‘The big dog is back’ statement upon his return.
He added: “I didn’t expect all the sneakerheads to come out and really see that and talk about it. Man, they felt good. They were lighter. The white soles. I think that’s a classic look. I don’t think that’s ever going out of style.”
And in keeping with his return, Roman spoke on the reasoning behind why he chose to adopt a certain pair of Nike’s on his recovery from Leukaemia. The pair in question were etched with the name ‘Joe’ in reference to Roman’s real name Leati Joseph ‘Joe’ Anoa’i. He went on to explain why he did that: “In so many ways, I felt so much confidence.
“So much gratitude within that moment. It was special, and I can get into [it], but it would probably take way too long to explain all the emotions. That was one of those situations where I was able to kind of come out of the Roman character and just be Joe. That’s why you saw me the way I was. That’s why I was wearing Jordans.
