Mercedes Martinez seems to feel like she has a claim to the WWE NXT Women’s Championship, and will stop at nothing to get her chance to be called champion. She’s torn apart Robert Stone Brand once again, which I’m convinced she just does for fun, and now has set her sights on Dakota Kai. Calling Dakota Kai “the lap dog of Raquel Gonzalez” didn’t do much to help her case, but a win here might get her one step closer to a match with Gonzalez.
Mercedes Martinez & Dakota Kai Get Right To It
Kai & Martinez would lock up, with Martinez being taken down to the mat. Martinez slipped out of a head scissor attempt, before catching Kai out of the air by her ankle, Kai landing awkwardly. Kai would get flung around the ring before being nailed with a spinebuster, getting Martinez a two count.
Martinez would be hit with a desperate DDT from Kai, getting her a two count, and more importantly a chance to breathe. She would send Martinez hard into the corner, before hitting a running big boot for another two count. Kai would choke Martinez on the middle rope, using all of the referee’s five count to take Martinez’s breath away.
Martinez remained in this fight with some strikes, before ending up in an armbar on the mat. An inside cradle got Kai a two count, before going for the running boot in the corner. Martinez dodged and with Kai stuck on the ropes, nailed some forearm strikes before looking for a backdrop. Kai fought free, before being taken off the top rope and hit with a cliffhanger for a two count.
Raquel Gonzalez Isn’t To Be Messed With
Martinez would be sent back into the corner with a drop toehold to the middle turnbuckle, before Kai hit the fast running boot to stun her. During a picture in picture break, Kai would work over the arms and shoulders of Martinez with various submission holds, trying to take her power away.
Back from the break, Martinez was thrown to the outside by Kai, who followed close after. Martinez hit a forearm strike and drove her into the apron, before throwing Kai into the ring. Kai hit a sneaky kick to the groin of Martinez, kicked her in the head and nailed a rope hung codebreaker for a two count.
Martinez would hit a Misawa quality elbow smash to rock Kai, before hitting three consecutive butterfly suplexes. She’d make the mistake of getting in the face of Gonzalez at ringside, who crashed this match with a big boot before beating down Martinez at ringside.
