Following his victory at UFC 262, Christos Giagos sent a message to Donald Cerrone and indicated that he would be honored to fight him. The Californian UFC lightweight fighter expressed his favoritism for the American and admitted that he respects and admires him.
Giagos triumphed over Sean Soriano in the second round of the opening fight of the UFC 262 card. In the first round, the 31-year-old fighter suffered the onslaught of Soriano, but managed to overcome and in the second round his technique guided him to finish the fight. With the victory, Christos’ record reached five wins and four losses. Now, his new target will be Donald Cerrone.
A NEW CHALLENGER EMERGED ON THE HORIZON FOR DONALD CERRONE
UFC President Dana White said that Donald Cerrone will have one more fight in the 155-pound division. With that statement in the octagon world, several fighters have expressed their desire to face the mythical star.
“Cerrone is my favorite fighter of all time, besides Conor McGregor. For me it would be an honor to face “Cowboy.” I know Dana will drop him down to 155 pounds for one more fight. With no disrespect to him, I would love to share the octagon with him. It would be an honor,” Giagos told the “MMA Junkie” website.
The American press reports that UFC intends to match “Cowboy” with another veteran in his last fight. In that sense, Giagos would not be one of the main names. However, the victory conquered last weekend increases his aspiration and amplified his confidence.
It should be recalled that earlier this month, Donald Cerrone lost to Alex Morono in a convincing manner in the second round. The fight ratified that the veteran is not in his best physical condition and that Dana White is thinking about a tribute. The American’s original opponent was Diego Sanchez, but he was fired from the company due to his argument that White intends to end his life and reputation.
