40-year-old veteran Matt Brown landed the most spectacular KO of UFC Vegas 29.
Brown was facing Dhiego Lima and from the first moment he came out looking to be the aggressor. In the second round Matt would end the fight with a hard right hand at just the right time. Lima would fall completely to the canvas at 3:02 of the second round.
Matt Brown puts out Dhiego Lima’s light with withering right hand
Matt began by punishing the body with kicks while looking to be the aggressor, as he usually does in his fights. Lima responded in kind with kicks to the front leg trying to undercut Brown’s aggressiveness.
Matt resented the punishment and tried to close the distance, which allowed Lima to look to resort to wrestling. However, Brown showed good defense against the grappling and eventually broke the clinch. The fight was back to the center of the octagon and ‘The Immortal’ continued to throw combinations.
Lima also responded with punches and in one of his attacks would come Brown’s surgical strike that would end the fight. Dhiego threw a left jab and right behind him, came Matt’s lethal right hand that brutally extinguished his light.
After the fight, the veteran was happy with the result, although he also showed his respect for his opponent.
“Not bad for a 40-year-old from a small town in Ohio. I noticed he puts his left hand down a lot after the jab. Basic first day preparation. I love Dhiego, I wish him nothing but the best. I didn’t want to do that to him, but this is the game we play.”
In doing so, Brown snaps his two-fight losing streak and improves his record to 23-18.
