Jorge ‘Gamebred’ Masvidal looks to return to the octagon at the end of the year against a top-5 contender.
Masvidal is coming off two consecutive welterweight title losses to champion Kamaru Usman. Although both losses are disappointing, Masvidal says he is eager to return later this year, the Cuban-born fighter is targeting October or November.
Jorge Masvidal plans his comeback and criticizes Leon Edwards
In an interview, ‘Gambred’, spoke about when he wants to return to the octagon.
“Whoever is available in October or November that’s when I’ll be back, that’s the head I’ll rip off, whoever it is.”
One name many mentioned to fight Masvidal is Leon Edwards. He is coming off a solid win over Nate Diaz, but he is eyeing a title shot. However, according to Masvidal, he believes the Brit is not a fighter as he doesn’t have the guts to come out and beat a guy like Diaz mercilessly.”
“It was a good fight, it was a good performance. Leon does what he does and he keeps asking for more money and more stuff, but he’s not a finisher. He’s not a fighter. He was winning happily and he wasn’t willing to put himself at risk out there to get those finishes. He’s a very skilled guy, but he doesn’t have that courage, that nastiness in him to go out there and beat up a top contender the way he should.
Jorge doesn’t seem too worried about the name of his next opponent, as long as it’s a top 5. What he is clear about is that he wants to be back before the end of the year.
