Mercedes Martinez might have suffered a big loss to Xia Li at NXT Takeover: In Your House, but she’s not done with Tian Sha yet. Now, she’s at least got an ally to back her up in Jake Atlas. Because of this, we now have a mixed tag team match, which will also see the in-ring return of Boa. He received the same training as Xia Li, and could be more dangerous than people give him credit for.
Boa Gets Back In The Ring
Li & Boa had Mei Ling looking on as they hit the ring, looking to be in the best shape of their lives. As the bell rang, all four participants got into a brawl until Atlas & Boa kept the ring. Boa would be beat into the corner before getting free with some well placed strikes. Atlas held his ground and forced Boa to make a tag, sending Li & Martinez into the ring.
Martinez was dropped with a single thrust kick, before Li would look for a suplex. The savvy veteran countered into a roll up, before hitting a back body drop to the outside. Li rolled to the outside, and Martinez would call out Ling for just sitting on the ramp while Li & Boa were losing.
Xia Li Knocks Mercedes Martinez Out
Coming back from a break, Boa was in control of Atlas after some strikes, but Atlas would be able to get free and complete the tag. Martinez would get Li up on the top rope, and took her down with a top rope Double Underhook suplex. Alongside Atlas, Martinez would take Boa out. However on the ramp, Ling would stand up and distract Martinez.
Li took advantage and hit from behind with a forearm strike before pulling her back into the ring. A spin kick would drop Martinez, and while she kicked out, she was unable to get back up and continue the fight. This one would end in a referee stoppage.
A solid mixed tag team effort, with Boa showing that he’s not just a body in the Tian Sha faction. Atlas & Martinez showed some good tag team work, and Li continues to look like an absolute killer in the ring. The sudden finish worked to this one’s favour. Match Rating: 2.5/5 (** 1/2)
