Over his career, few have absorbed the amount of punishment that Terry Funk has, and at 77 years old his health concerns have touched off a tidal wave of fan support.
A hardcore legend, Terry Funk is an original member of ECW, and many have stated that without him there wouldn’t have been an ECW.
He helped make the promotion a reality and gave tips and a boost to countless young wrestlers looking to break into the business.
Because of that, it’s hard to imagine anyone that had as much of an impact in professional wrestling as Terry Funk has while remaining as down to earth as possible, and now he’s reportedly battling dementia.

Don Muraco broke the news
On his weekly podcast, Don Muraco announced that Terry Funk was battling dementia and is in an assisted living facility in his hometown. This account was later verified by Mike Johnson of PWInsider.
Since then, support for the hardcore legend has been pouring out across social media for him that shows how much he’s meant to many of us over the years.
Tommy Dreamer shared an update via twitter about Funk’s status:
Everyone needs to relax
I just got off phone w/ Terry Funk
He is NOT in bad health
He loves everyone talking about him

On Twitter, Terry Funk’s managed account shared:

“Yes, Mr. Funk is currently receiving residential care for his multiple health issues, which do affect his mind as well as the rest of his body. As you can imagine, some days are better than others. He & his family appreciate all of your kind words!
FOREVER!”
The outpouring of support continued throughout the yesterday and the night as Kyle O’Reilly dedicated NXT Great American Bash to Terry Funk.
There’s no denying that Terry Funk is a fighter, but everyone grows older and it’s been reported that his health started suffering when his wife passed away two years ago.
How true that is we can’t say, but we wish him nothing but the best. Terry Funk gave us everything had had night after night, match after match and we’ll always be grateful for everything he did.
