Kamaru Usman vs Colby Covington 2 CONFIRMED For UFC 268 At Madison Square Garden In NYC!

One of the greatest title fights in UFC history is about to get a sequel. Kamaru Usman, dominant champion of the welterweight division on an 18-fight win streak, will finally take on Colby Covington once more.

According to ESPN, the rematch is set to take place at UFC 268 this November. The fight will take place at Madison Square Garden, hallowed ground for combat sports. No date is set for the event as yet, but a title fight as big as this would either be the main event or co-main.

Usman v Covington 2 CONFIRMED for UFC 268

Usman famously dispatched Covington with a final-round knockout last time the two faced each other in the Octagon. This was way back at UFC 245 in 2019, and Colby Covington has spent the intervening years repeatedly attempting to bait Usman into a rematch.

The rivalry between the two has only become more intense over the years, with Usman extending his win streak and defending the belt time and time again.

Although both Usman and Covington were, at the time, primarily known for their wrestling prowess, they chose to keep the fight on the feet for the most part. The pair exchanged brutal strikes over the course of the five rounds, with many spectators scoring the bout tied heading into round five.

Usman promptly won the fight via TKO, but Covington has spent the past few years claiming this was an early stoppage. He’ll get his chance to prove himself against the champ once more in November.

Covington’s last fight, against Tyron Woodley, took place last year, which garnered “Chaos” a TKO victory. It was Colby Covington’s only excursion to the Octagon since his loss at Usman’s hands. When the rematch takes place, it will be only his second fight since Usman knocked him out in 2019.

Kamaru Usman, on the other hand, is riding two consecutive knockout victories over Gilbert Burns and Jorge Masvidal, the latter of which was his fourth successful title defence in two years. Usman is widely considered one of the greatest pound-for-pound fighters alive, if not the greatest. Sealing a second victory over Covington would surely cement his place at the top.

A win for Covington would mean finally claiming the undisputed title. It would mean backing up all his trash talk over the years. Taking the crown from as dominant a champion as Kamaru Usman would create a legacy for Colby Covington, who remains one of the most controversial fighters in the UFC.

Who do you see taking the win at UFC 268? Let us know in the comments. Remember to stay up to date with the latest news on TheOvertimer. Don’t forget to visit Gamestingr for great videos, news, and gameplay!
