Some extra spark has been added to UFC 264 in terms of the fights slated for the event, as Niko Price “The Hybrid” goes head-to-head with Michel Pereira “Demolidor” in the Octagon on Saturday, July 10th.
Niko Price who stands at 6 ft 0 in (1.83 m) has a mixed martial arts record of a total of 20 matches of which he has recorded 14 wins, 4 losses and 2 no contests. Price definitely packs a punch in his fists as 10 of his 14 victories have come by knockouts, 3 being by submissions, while winning only 1 by decision.
Price and Pereira set for welterweight clash at UFC 264
Michel Pereira stands at 6ft 1 in (1.85 m), he has a mixed martial arts record of a total of 38 fights, 25 of the fights ending in victory for him, 11 losses and 2 no contests. Pereira is an all-rounder in his battle winning methods as he has won 10 of his fights by knockouts, 7 by submission and 7 by decision. He has predominantly lost his fights by decision, losing 8 of his 11 losses by decision and 1 each by submission, knockout and disqualification.
This welterweight division clash undoubtedly seems to favor Michel Pereira when stats are considered, because he has shown very little susceptibility to knockouts which is Niko Price’s preferred mode of victory; losing only 1 fight by knockout, which Price has used to win in 10 of his 14 victories.
Pereira has proven himself to be an all-rounder when it comes to his methods of attaining victory, and although Price hasn’t lost enough matches to say he is particularly vulnerable to a particularly mode of victory, three of his four defeats coming by knockout may just be a sign that he doesn’t do well when faced with heavy fists, and considering the fact that Pereira has successfully knocked his opponents out on 10 different occasions, Pereira definitely has the upper hand in the fight on paper.
However, all these is just to soothe our curiosity beforehand as to what the match would be like. The match would ultimately decide how it goes by itself on the 10th of July. Because words and numbers on paper don’t do the fighting in the Octagon, and we can only anticipate what would go down in the ring on the fight night and hope it will truly be exhilarating and entertaining.
