Stipe Miocic, former heavyweight champion, spoke out regarding Derrick Lewis’ statements that Miocic’s best days are in the past.

Punch Drunk’ is a term used to refer to those people who, due to having received multiple blows to the head, suffer from brain damage.
Miocic in an interview with ‘Submission Radio,’ seemed not to care much and jokingly replied to these statements.
“That I’m punch drunk? I have no idea what he’s talking about, but ok. His balls are probably really hot, that’s probably why he said it.”
While Lewis will be the next opponent for current monarch Francis Ngannou, Stipe is next in line, according to Dana White. While the former champ doesn’t care who he gets to face, he would like to have his rematch and trilogy with Ngannou.
“I don’t prefer either of them, but I would like to fight Francis again. He beat me last time and kept the belt.”
On March 27th at UFC 260, Stipe was dethroned in a loss to ‘The Predator’. This was the second time they had met for the heavyweight championship. Miocic was coming off two headline wins over Daniel Cormier. While Ngannou was ranked 1st in the division. In addition, it is worth mentioning that his last four fights were won in the first round by KO.
The first time these heavyweights met each other, was in 2018 at UFC 220 event, Stipe completely dominated the Cameroonian. He took the fight by way of unanimous decision, with an overwhelming result of 50-44 on the judges’ cards.
Three years later, in the rematch, Miocic faced an evolved Ngannou. He suffered a brutal defeat, which stripped him of his title. At the beginning of the second round, the Cameroonian managed to connect his powerful punches to send Stipe devastatingly to the ground. Thus, it is Francis who reigns at 265 pounds of UFC.
On the other hand, there was also talk of a likely fight between Miocic and former 205-pound champion Jon Jones. The bout looks unlikely but Stipe doesn’t care, as he only has in mind to get his belt back.
“I’m not the one who makes the fights, I’m not worried about that or the things he says. I want my rematch and to get my belt back.”
