Since winning the RAW Tag Team Championships from The New Day at Wrestlemania, AJ Styles and his bodyguard Omos have managed two defenses, both on Monday Night RAW. Tonight they finally get back to PPV due to the Bianca Belair vs. Bayley match getting pulled, as they look to defend against a serious threat in The Viking Raiders. We’d get a recap of the skills The Viking Raiders showed in their comedy feud with Street Profits, but they’re also a deadly tag team; just look at their dominance in NXT for proof of that.

The Viking Raiders Have A Game Plan

Erik would look to start with Styles, but Styles tagged in Omos to start. If you can drop Omos somehow, Styles isn’t as hard a challenge. Ivar would tag in and they came at Omos two on one, before Omos ran them both down with a lariat. Styles would tag in and lose control of the match as Ivar drove him into the corner. Erik nailed a uranage, before scoop slamming Ivar onto each other.

Viking Raiders were successful in isolating Styles, and Omos isn’t known for quick saves. Erik hit a massive knee strike, and Styles kicked out on instincts alone, before dropkicking Erick out of the ring. Ivar was tripped off the apron, before Omos was tagged in. Omos launched Styles over the top onto Erik, where Styles hit a hurricanrana.

Back in the ring, Styles tagged back in only to take flight off a back body drop from Erik. Ivar got a tag, and showed his speed with a cartwheel dodge into a lariat for a two count. Omos would get a tag after Styles stunned Ivar. Ivar went for the cartwheel lariat but Omos absorbed it. Omos caught a dive into a scoop slam, before applying a shoulder claw.

AJ Styles Picked The Perfect Partner

Styles tagged in to abuse a weakened Ivar, forgetting the uncanny agility which saw him slip over the back of Styles into the tag. Erik & Styles launched a flurry of strikes before Erik nailed a shotgun knee and fallaway slam. The Viking Raiders would isolate Styles and hit the assisted springboard lariat for the near fall.

Styles would fight his way free and get a tag to Omos, who could get Ivar off the top rope after Styles hit the Pele Kick. Omos nailed a press slam and pinned Ivar with one foot, which is all that kept Ivar in the fight. Ivar came back as he took Styles down and tagged in Erik. Quick tags and strikes would start to break Omos down, and sent him to the outside.

A dive dropped Omos, as Styles got a roll up for a two count. He’d set up the Phenominal Forearm, before being caught in Viking Experience, before Omos shoved Erik into the pinfall to break it up. Omos tagged in and would nail Erik with the double hand chokeslam, getting his team the win.

A smartly booked tag team match, which showed some great improvement from Omos and Styles as a team. Styles carried a bulk of the champs offense, and Viking Raiders put on a perfect performance, but Omos was simply too much for even them. Match Rating: 2.75/5 (** 3/4)

Who would possibly take down Styles & Omos? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
