After years of waiting, years of hearing fans chant his name: CM Punk is finally back. He made his return in Chicago on AEW Rampage: The First Dance, to one of the biggest pops in wrestling history. We will see him make his in-ring debut for AEW at All Out against Darby Allin, but tonight on Dynamite he has a bit more to get off his chest.
What Brought CM Punk Back?
After another massive ovation from fans, the moment still incredibly fresh, Punk would take the ring alongside Tony Schiavone for an interview. Even Schiavone was shaken but had a question. What is the one thing that brought him back to the ring? However, Punk couldn’t hear him over the raucous crowd which was loudly chanting his name. He’d ask them to be a bit quiet so he can do the interview.
So what brought him back? It’s names like Jungle Boy, Penta El Zero Miedo, Rey Fenix, Brian Pillman Jr. However, Darby Allin comes first. He’s gonna retire the name The Voice of the Voiceless, because the people in the back are listening now. CM Punk has watched Darby wrestle, and all the other young talent, and wonders: Can CM Punk still go? Does he still have what it takes?
Is he still the best in the world? He will find out when he wrestles Darby Allin. This is a wrestler he’d have looked up to at 15, someone who marches to the beat of his own drum. Someone much like CM Punk, and the perfect name to prove that he can still go in the ring. On September 5th, it’ll be about proving Punk right. Will Punk be able to get the win at All Out?
