The always controversial Colby Covington questioned the choice of coaches for ‘TUF 29’. When Brian Ortega found out, he didn’t stay silent and responded firmly.
Covington, a welterweight contender, as expected, had some spicy statements about the new season of ‘The Ultimate Fighter’. In particular, the designated coaches, Alexander Volkanovski and Brian Ortega, competitors in the featherweight division.

For ‘Chaos’ it was not a great idea to have them as coaches. Colby believes that they will make ‘TUF 29’ a complete mockery, and also that they are not functional to the ‘show’, but rather are boring and don’t sell.
“I know Hunter Campbell and Dana White probably had to go behind closed doors to beat each other over the head, because you don’t want those two as coaches for your comeback season of ‘The Ultimate Fighter.'”
Let’s remember that months ago it was rumored that the former interim champion would be one of the TUF coaches. And that the opposing team would be under the command of his former friend, now enemy, Jorge Masvidal. But nothing came to fruition.
“These guys will make a complete mockery of the show. I mean, there’s no entertainment factor there, you know? They, yeah, they’re decent fighters, but for small weights, for midgets. They don’t sell. There’s no controversy, there’s no drama. There’s nothing, there’s no story. I feel bad for the show. I wish I could go back to the show and give the people what they want.”
Brian Ortega responded to Covington’s statements via his Twitter account, and made it clear that he didn’t even ask to be on the show.
“I don’t know why Colby Covington is throwing hate at TUF, the show was yours bro, damn, I didn’t even want it. Jorge Masvidal dropped it to fight and they pulled your ass out. My fight fell through and we got the call to take it. I didn’t call anyone to be on the show, they asked me. Now I’m thankful you don’t have it, bitch.”
