Buddy Murphy is one of the few wrestlers who heavily tease their return to wrestling through high standard video. He and Ruby Soho are the few that are doing this. This has caused some speculation on both of them going to AEW due to both; Jon Moxley and Malakai Black doing a similar thing before joining AEW. Buddy Murphy has teased this a lot through his short, having a similar set-up to Malakai Black being stuck in prison. His latest video shows us more into what Buddy’s new persona will be like.
Buddy Murphy’s new name
Buddy Murphy’s new name will be Buddy Matthews. In WWE, it should be noted that his name was changed to Murphy, and Buddy was taken away, but after his release, it seems like Matthews will continue using Buddy as his first name. The big date that all signs are pointing to for Buddy Matthews is the 31st of August on a Tuesday through all these videos. The only notable show that runs on a Tuesday is NXT, and it’s highly unlikely that Buddy Matthews will debut there as it’s looking like this he’s when his non compete ends, making it possible for him to debut on AEW on the 1st of September. There may be a bit more to Buddy’s new name, however.
Is this setting up a feud with Malakai Black or a faction?
Looking into Buddy Matthew’s new name. It does have some relation to the Malakai’s name in the Bible. I don’t know much about the Bible, but Malakai is spelt as Malachi in the Bible as part of the Old Testament after some research. There is the book of Malachi, and then in the New Testament, it has the book of Matthews, which are set 400 years apart. Looking at the age gap between Malakie Black and Buddy Mathews, it’s four years. That feud or faction writes itself. There are many teases that the second feud for Malakai is going to be Buddy Mathews, and the first for Buddy is Black. It all started to hint at a feud before either had even met in AEW.
