Contender in the 145-pound division, Shane Burgos, described what it felt like to get KO’d by Edson Barboza at UFC 262.
Fight of the Night at UFC 262 was an absolute war between Burgos and Barboza for the duration. The first two rounds proved competitive, with Barboza having a slight advantage going into the third round. However, Burgos was still alive in the fight.
Unfortunately for Shane, a right overhand right connected early in the third round. Said punch sent Burgos staggering to the ground in a bizarre delayed-effect fashion, which was quite disturbing to watch.

UFC president Dana White was worried that something bad had happened to Burgos and they didn’t hesitate to send him straight to the hospital right away. Fortunately for everyone, Shane said he was feeling fine.
In a recent interview with a U.S. media outlet, Shane Burgos described what it felt like to be knocked out by Brazilian Barboza.
“The weirdest part is that I remember everything, which was something everyone was amazed by. I don’t have any memory loss when it comes to that. We were fighting, I threw a jab, returned my hand to my head. And he threw a fucking right hand over the top, and I didn’t even see it. It was like, boom, he hit me and I was still moving, but I thought, and this is weird.
I felt like my vision was slowly turning into tunnel vision, my legs were slowly going out. It was like someone was turning down the volume on the power button on my legs. It was bouncing up and down, and when it was going down, it was trying to come all the way back up, and it was slowly going down. I’m like, what the hell is going on?”
“Literally, as soon as the fight was over, as soon as the referee stopped the fight, and I definitely left for a second, I remember waking up going ‘what the fuck!’ I looked up at the referee and I was like, ‘you’ve got to be fucking kidding me.’ I knew the fight was over and he had hooked me up with something. I remember laughing at the time in total disbelief, I really felt like I was going out on my own. Are you kidding me? It was a weird feeling, it really was.”
