Ilja Dragunov is set to face WALTER at NXT Takeover 36. This highly anticipated rematch over the NXT UK Championship is set to take the world by storm. Tonight, Dragunov makes his debut in the Capitol Wrestling Center, and who knows what kind of chaos the Mad Russian will bring with him.
Ilja Dragunov Isn’t One For Big Words
Dragunov would hit the ring, dressed in his street clothes. Likely not ready to compete tonight, instead Dragunov would grab a microphone. He’d soak in the reaction, having not worked in front of fans for many months. Dragunov isn’t a man for big words. Where he’s come from and where he’s going, words don’t mean much.
However, what has meant something is pain. Pain has made him into the powerful competitor he is today. He’s put everything that’s ever been given in the ring into his body, and is ready to unleash. On August 24th, he plans to do the unthinkable. He will end the reign of WALTER and become the NXT UK Champion.
Pete Dunne Needs To Prove Himself Against Dragunov
Before he could finish what was becoming a shockingly good promo, he’d be met by a former NXT UK Champion. Pete Dunne would hit the ring, and demand a thank you. Without him carrying the NXT UK brand on his back, Dragunov wouldn’t even be in WWE. He wouldn’t be fighting WALTER, and he wouldn’t be standing across the ring from the baddest man in NXT.
If Dunne never left NXT UK, he would have beaten Dragunov down and had been in line to re-take his NXT UK Championship from WALTER. Dragunov wasn’t phased, and claims that Dunne can’t change that he will defeat WALTER. He’d also remind Dunne that he never defeated WALTER, while Dragunov has a pinfall over him in tag team action.
