Last week, Ridge Holland would manage to defeat the veteran of Timothy Thatcher. After the bell, they’d write Thatcher off with an attack with the bat of Holland. Later in the show, he backed up Pete Dunne who was ready to take Samoa Joe on, only to be attacked by Tommaso Ciampa. Wanting vengeance, Ciampa will take on Holland one on one tonight. Ciampa is a former NXT World Champion, and it takes a lot to put him down – but is Holland up for the challenge?
Ridge Holland Throws His Weight Around
Holland showed no fear for Ciampa, driving him right into the corner. Ciampa would fight out and get a headlock takeover, but was unable to hold him down. Holland would send Ciampa to the apron, before he’d take a jawbreaker. Ciampa followed up with a knee to the jaw, before Lorcan & Burch saved him from a second.
Going right after Holland on the outside anyways, he’d set him up on the announce table for a running knee. Ciampa got right in the face of Dunne before getting back into the ring, where Holland nailed a major pounce before following up with some downward punches to the mat. All throughout the break, Holland would just brutalize Ciampa with heavy strikes all over the ring.
Tommaso Ciampa Is Unbreakable
Back from the break, Ciampa would try to make a comeback with some driving forearms only to be beaten down. Holland was just physically overwhelming Ciampa, and that was a strategy we saw WALTER use to beat Ciampa this year. A running throat chop took him down however, before Ciampa would hit lariat after lariat in the corner.
One more big running lariat dropped Holland, but not enough to end it. Holland would come back with an Alabama Slam, stacking Ciampa up on his surgically repaired neck. Ciampa would have heavy arms at this point, but kept on fighting with a slugfest in the middle of the ring. He’d fire up and pepper Holland with strikes, and Holland came back just as rough.
Holland slumped onto Ciampa, who nailed a big Air Raid Crash for a two count. On the outside, Ciampa would be rammed into the barricade with a powerslam, but on the way back into the ring, Holland would be nailed with a flurry of knees and Willows Bell for the finish.
A brawl of a match, which was just what it needed to be. Holland looked lost at moments in this match, with Ciampa having to get him back on track. Despite this, they were able to finish strong and keep the crowds attention. Match Rating: 2.75/5 (** 3/4)
After the match, MSK would have to save Ciampa from an assault by Lorcan & Burch, driving off Dunne & Holland too. Next week, MSJ defend against Lorcan & Burch, can they retain? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
