Jorge Masvidal and Jake Paul may once have united against their common nemesis, “Funky” Ben Askren, but their friendship is officially over.
Fresh off the back off a lacklustre decision win over Tyron Woodley, Jake Paul is revving up his hype machine once more, and calling yet another mixed martial artist to the boxing ring.
Jake Paul “would love” to fight Jorge Masvidal
Speaking to The MMA Hour, Paul said: “I mean honestly just from a personal standpoint, I would love for it to be Masvidal.
Just cause of the sh*t talk. Just cause of his name. Just cause he’s still in his prime era and there’s a lot of personal beef there. I just took out his boy Tyron. But hopefully Dana would let him out of his contract but we’re not sure if that can happen.
But for me personally, I think that would be the toughest challenge, the toughest guy and the biggest name. The most relevant currently. I think that’s the one to make. I think it will happen at some point regardless, but that’s at the top of my list for sure.”
Paul has also alluded to his desire to fight Conor McGregor, although with McGregor nursing a broken leg, weighing almost fifty pounds less than Paul, and occasionally throwing drinks at Machine Gun Kelly, it seems unlikely to occur.
Jake Paul clearly fancies his chances against MMA’s best strikers. Although he has only fought wrestling-oriented mixed martial artists so far, and retired wrestlers at that, it’s only a matter of time before Paul has to step up and take on a boxer.
Of course, Paul doesn’t think much of the UFC’s best strikers. “The notion that these MMA fighters think that I’m scared of them is just funny or that I’m running away?
Guys, I’ve fought four times in the past two years. You can’t even really fight more than that if you’re doing big fights. I’m going to back-to-back-to-back on these b*tch ass MMA fighters. Like, line them up, I will take all of them down. You guys cannot box. I outboxed five-time UFC f*cking champion. Vitor Belfort didn’t even get close to winning that many championships. The notion that you guys are scared.
You guys cannot box for sh*t. There is not one moment in the fight where Tyron was outboxing me. Not one. The notion that you guys are scared. I just took out one of your best fighters, Hall of Fame of all time and sh*t all over him on a bad night on a hyperextended elbow. So f*ck all of you.”
