The WWE set up a Universal Championship match between Roman Reigns and Finn Balor for this week, and WWE Smackdown Preview is wondering will we see this and can we trust WWE Creative?
After news broke that Vince McMahon was furious on Monday (one person reportedly claimed it was the angriest they’ve ever seen him on a show day) and tore up several scripts things feel in limbo.
In a lot of ways, it wasn’t something new as reports claim as of 6 p.m., or two hours before WWE Raw went live, they didn’t know what they were doing for the show.
There have been more than a few instances where similar instances have been reported, and on Raw the result was a bad show with three good matches for three hours of programming.
While it’s no secret that Smackdown is the better of the two shows by far, we’re curious if we’ll actually see Balor challenge Reigns tonight, or will that change on the fly?
Chaos at best
With things in flux in the WWE, it’s difficult to know what to expect. While it’s been reported that McMahon wants more of a unpredictable nature to return, it’s a fine line between that and chaos.
It also muddies the water some after they released a compilation of Seth Rollins’ most extreme stomps, which gives the indication we can expect something big from him this week.
Add Becky Lynch being added to the mix and there’s only so much time to fit everything in.
We think they can do it because they did it before with top notch results, but they also had the Rock, Undertaker, Steve Austin, and others in their prime and the writing was amazing.
We could be surprised
WWE Smackdown Preview is holding out hope we’re worrying over nothing and we get a solid show tonight.
But we really want to see Balor and Reigns face off. We know Balor won’t win with Brock Lesnar now added to the mix, but he was cheated out of his chance at SummerSlam to cash in on John Cena’s return.
This has the potential to be an awesome match preceded by the Usos and Street Profits.
Or, we could get the typical WWE approach and the match starts the show off, run ins happen, so then we get a six man tag match after a 30 second Universal title match.
Looks like we’re going to have to buckle up. This could be a bumpy ride.
