All the original Avengers have now had their time in the spotlight, with Hawkeye getting his TV show and Black Widow recently releasing a movie. However, Hulk hasn’t really had his time in the limelight. Hulk did have a movie which is technically part of the MCU but with a completely different actor.
Mark Ruffalo as Hulk hasn’t had a movie of his own and has only been the side character, never the main character. However, rumours are picking up that Hulk will be getting his own movie, based on the World War Hulk story.
What is the rumour?
The rumour is that in 2022 is when the new Hulk movie will go into production. This will most likely be close to the time when She-Hulk releases. It’s possible that She-Hulk may lead to the events of the movie, but if you have read the comic, a lot does happen to lead up to World War Hulk. This makes it likely that the She-Hulk TV show will tease the possibilities, and a different movie will be a sort of prequel to the events.
What is the World War Hulk Story?
The World War Hulk story follows Hulk as he’s sent to an abandoned planet. As Hulk is too dangerous to be kept on Earth and around living beings. The ship crashes Hulk on a world called Skarr full of living beings. Hulk has a wife and a son through his new life on Skaar, but Earth’s Technology destroys the planet, and his family is killed.
Hulk then goes on a full-scale attack on Earth and even kills some members of the Avengers. It’s unlikely that the MCU will follow this story completely as Ragnarok took a lot of inspiration from this story, but it’s possible we may see a new telling of this story like how we have seen Civil War and Endgame.
