Last night, Smackdown Live ended in an odd manner. The RAW & Smackdown Women’s Championships needed to be swapped, as their champions were put onto the opposite brands. WWE decided to make a big segment out of this, with Charlotte Flair handing the RAW Women’s Championship to Becky Lynch, who would hand over the Smackdown Women’s Championship in return. Hardly thrilling TV, but with WWE you take what you can get. Things didn’t go according to script, as Flair refused to simply hand it over, causing a who heap of issues.
Charlotte Flair Has A Bit Of A Tantrum
Instead of doing the planned exchange, Flair would instead throw the RAW Women’s Championship onto the floor. Reports from PWInsider & Fightful Select indicate that she did this as simply handing over the championship would have made her look “weak”. This was quite a diva moment from Flair, who has often been set up as the face of the Women’s division. Lynch & Sonya Deville did their best to play along, and Sasha Banks would come out to kick off a feud with Flair over the Smackdown Women’s Championship.
This led to Flair storming past Vince McMahon backstage without a word, a verbal confirmation with Becky Lynch, and Flair being told to leave the arena by WWE officials. We will have to see what happens when cooler heads eventually prevail, but this outburst from Charlotte Flair is not a good look – especially as it might have put her on the bad side of Vince McMahon.
Flair Will Be Around AEW Dynamite With Andrade El Idolo Tonight
After leaving, Flair reportedly made the trip to Orlando, Florida. This was to spend time with her fiance, who is there for the next episode of AEW Dynamite. Andrade El Idolo isn’t booked on any segments that have been announced for Dynamite, but will likely be seen somewhere on the show, or for a taping of Dark: Elevation.
Flair being around AEW is nothing new given her relationship to one of their biggest names, but her being there after the issues in WWE is interesting indeed. She might not be able to show up on TV or officially discuss anything, but as AEW & WWE clash more and more, you never know what can happen.
