One of the biggest reports of the year in wrestling is that ROH is releasing all of its rosters and hopefully returning next year for a rebranding of sorts. Since then, the story has been expanded on. With reports that ROH will be more of an independent show in the future with no contracts and more of a pay per day contract system. ROH is now trying to sell their back catalogue of matches to the highest bidder.
WWE was originally interested
WWE apparently was interested at one point, but due to massive releases, they now don’t have many former ROH wrestlers making the content worthless to them. AEW, however, is full to the brim of former ROH stars. With the first PPV All In being seen as the PPV that birthed AEW being up for sale. Making it possible that AEW could be in the works of buying the backlog.
AEW could benefit from this purchase massively
There are two reasons why AEW could massively benefit from buying this massive backlog. One of them is the fact that they would own their original PPV. The other reason for this would be that AEW is currently in the market to create a streaming service. So if they end up getting this back catalogue, they could use all this content for the streaming service.
