WWE and AEW had its first head to head competition. When Smackdown decided to extend their show by half an hour going head to head with Rampage. The viewership for Smackdown did take a hit but that was more due to the show being on F1. Rampage, however, had a viewership growth for that show. Now that Rampage has been on a downward spiral. It’s possible that the competition could bring new growth to AEW Rampage.
Brand loyalty comes with War of Companies
Through the war of companies that go head to head on the same day. It feels like it pushes both to their limits. It could also push the normal AEW fans to watch it live to bring up viewership. That brand loyalty could work in AEW’s favour. At the minute, Rampage was just hitting over 500.00 but in competition with AEW it grew to 600.00.
It’s possible with the competition that Rampage could grow to 600.00 and maybe even further. WWE annoys a lot of people on a regular occasion, if there is another show on at the same time. It’s possible that fans will change the channel and see AEW Rampage. It does mean two things, however, Rampage will have to be pushed to 2 hours and be a live show rather than recorded on Wednesdays.
AEW Rampage will have a better time slot
Then there’s the fact that with the better time slot, AEW Rampage could have another 200.00 viewers just from that alone. With the time slot being one of the biggest complaints about the show in general. It’s possible that the time slot could grow Rampage’s numbers. This mixed with the competition could make Rampage more of a must watch show. Rather than the kind of B grade show it has slowly become. It’s possible that it will stay at that 500.00 or dip below it in the coming months.
