Bryan Danielson‘s last 5 years have been very surprising. Going from retirement to returning to WWE, then leaving WWE to go to AEW.
However, Bryan has gone into detail about why he originally had to retire back in 2016. It was originally thought that Bryan had to retire due to concussions, but it’s been cleared up the real reason why he had to retire.
What Bryan Danielson had to say
“I legitimately thought I was healthy and still think that I’m healthy. One of the reasons I was forced to retire was not because of the concussions but because I lied about that. You have to understand, from WWE’s point of view, I had been wrestling for them for six years, but then all of a sudden, they opened this Pandora’s box about ‘lying about his medical history, and now we can’t trust him.’ A lot of that was building the trust back, but they were also legitimately looking after my health. I was going to see doctor after doctor and doing everything that I could to improve brain function to show, above and beyond, that my brain was healthy.
Is this a fair reason to retire?
The reason for this does seem very weird, but it is understandable due to concussions being a very worrying issue. However, it feels like Bryan should have been written off TV for a while rather than forced to retire as it’s always possible for Bryan to return. It seems like a very weird direction and makes it feel sense why he left the company.
