AEW has always seen WWE as the competition. Even though the last two years, many have praised AEW while WWE has been criticized by many. In the past, competition between top companies have pushed entertainment to new levels and brings the best out of them.
WWE has shown massive signs that they see AEW as a competition, like the announcement of the extra half an hour being ad-free when going up against Rampage. Also, in the production side of NXT, they were watching AEW simultaneously as running the show when NXT was on Wednesdays. Tony Khan has now mentioned this in an interview with Dazn.
What Tony Khan had to say
The War between AEW and WWE is only starting…
This is the first time in 2 years that AEW is going against one of the main shows, Smackdown, this Friday. Smackdown has an extra half an hour that goes against the first half-hour of Rampage.
It’s likely that Smackdown will win this, but due to Smackdown being on FS1 instead of the usual Fox. But Rampage’s recent weekly drop-in ratings suggests that Smackdown will come out the winner of this one.
