In the latest iteration of the WWE draft, the up and coming faction of Hit Row was moved from NXT to Smackdown Live. This group was formed around former NXT North American Champion, Isaiah “Swerve” Scott, putting Cruiserweight standout Ashante Adonis, heavyweight AJ “Top Dolla” Francis, and B-Fab alongside him. After months of being one of the more popular acts on NXT, a call up was obvious – but focuses might have changed.
Swerve To Focus More On Tag Team Action With Hit Row
In NXT, the focus of the group members was simple. Isaiah “Swerve” Scott was the singles star, B-Fab was mostly a manager, and Top Dolla & Ashante Adonis handled tag team duties. This worked to everyone’s strengths, as Swerve is a respected in-ring talent from his time in Lucha Underground and on the indies as Shane Strickland making him a solid singles wrestler. B-Fab is very much a rookie so her ring time was limited, and Top Dolla is impressive but limited, and tag team action suited him.
However, now on Smackdown Live, plans have changed around as per a report from PWInsider. Top Dolla is now viewed as the singles star to push from the group, while Swerve and Adonis will take the focus as a tag team. B-Fab will likely wrestle a bit more often, but her skill set could keep her at ringside more often than not.
This is baffling to some, but tracks with WWE liking to push heavyweight talent. If nothing else, Adonis & Swerve will put on some great tag team matches – and Top Dolla could truly prove to be something special.
Other Role Adjustments From The WWE Draft
This isn’t the only post-draft adjustment to watch out for however. Others include Commander Azeez & Apollo Crews working more as a tag team, instead of Azeez just being ringside muscle. Shotzi Blackheart is set to work as a heel on Smackdown Live, which makes little sense given how popular she is.
Xia Li is going to play a face role on Smackdown, which should work fine – no issues there. Mia Yim will find her way back to the ring on RAW as a face, and Tegan Nox doesn’t have a heel bone in her body so she will remain a face.
