Perhaps Paddy Pimblett’s moniker “The Baddy” isn’t merely a rhyming nickname. The UFC prospect, who stunned fight fans with his first-round knockout victory on debut earlier this year, revealed on social media that he had been forcibly removed from a soccer game.
Pimblett claimed that he and his fellow Liverpool fans were “treated like criminals” over their celebrations at the game. Pimblett’s team, Liverpool FC, defeated Watford FC 5-0. He posted a video to social media detailing his experience.
Paddy “The Baddy” Evicted from Liverpool Match
“Been kicked out of the match for celebrating! Now we’re being kicked out of the boozer [pub] by stewards because it’s a home boozer. Watford, Ben Foster, I love you lad, but I hope youse go down. Youse are horrible.”
In another Tweet, Pimblett claimed that he and his fellow Liverpool supporters were only celebrating their team’s victory.
“That’s it mate we never went over the top only jumped up as a natural reaction as we’re all staunch reds, all’s they had to do was have a word and say don’t do it again an we wudnt instead they treated us like criminals and escorted us out when we’d done nothing wrong. Disgrace!”
Paddy Pimblett, born and raised in Liverpool, has made much of his support for his home team. During his time with Cage Warriors, he often fought with the team’s logo and colors emblazoned on his fight shorts.
He has even suggested that his dream is to headline a main event at Liverpool’s home ground, Anfield. Whether any of this goes ahead, of course, is depending on the next move for this young MMA fighter.
Following his stunning first-round knockout victory over Luigi Vendramini, Pimblett immediately declared his intention to be the UFC’s new golden boy. A superfight against bantamweight “Suga” Sean O’Malley was suggested, but Pimblett claimed that he would prefer to fight a fellow lightweight.
Jared Gordon, who recently won a fight at UFC Vegas 38, called Pimblett out in his post-fight interview. Pimblett’s next fight might be against Gordon, and as early as next year.
Pimblett is widely touted as one of the UFC’s next big stars. He will be itching to move up the lightweight rankings, but as he is relatively early in his UFC career, Pimblett won’t be risking fights against highly ranked opponents.
