The Queens Crown tournament in WWE is not one that fans have enjoyed thus far. None of the matches have really gotten the time they deserved, with one King of the Ring match nearly being as long as everything that has led to the finals. However, Doudrop & Zelina Vega will look to make up for that tonight as they battle to make history as the first Queen of the Ring.
Zelina Vega Defies The Odds
Doudrop would tower over Vega here, and just shoved her down. Vega slipped out to the apron and hit a jawbreaker. She’d go up top but was caught in the air. Vega rolled through and tried for a sunset flip, but Doudrop powered her up. Doudrop lost grip, and Vega hit the ropes for a tornado DDT for a two count.
Vega was doing good with cutting Doudrop down, but a single lariat changed the pace. Doudrop looked for the cannonball in the corner and Vega dodged to hit a double knee strike. Vega would get a two count, before being dropped with a big sidewalk slam. A running senton would follow, but Vega was able to keep fighting. One big Code Red later, and Vega is Queen of The Ring!
Goldberg Has License To Kill – But Might Be Too Tired
At Summerslam, Bobby Lashley and MVP did everything in their power to ensure Lashley left as WWE Champion when he faced Goldberg. It took a lot of underhanded tactics, but by the end Goldberg could barely stand. However, attacking the son of Goldberg after the match was a bit too much – and now they will clash in a No Holds Barred match with a Falls Count Anywhere flair.
Goldberg got his full entrance, meaning he was tired before he even reached the ring. Hell, he was tired leaving the locker room. If anyone needed a ride to the ring, it was Goldberg. Lashley hid a chain in his pants, and wrapped his fist to punch Goldberg before driving him into the post. Goldberg would be choked in the corner, and Lashley went to grab a table before instead wanting a chair.
After some chair shots, Lashley finally grabbed the table and got it in the ring. Goldberg finally got to his feet and took a chop block, before the leg was trapped in a chair and stomped. The table was in the corner and Goldberg was able to dodge out of the way as Lashley charged in.
Goldberg was able to hit a spear, and with one good leg wanted to hit a Jackhammer. He’d manage it, but that wasn’t enough. He’d take his gloves off, and threw Lashley out of the ring before hobbling out and hitting a spear through the barricade. Goldberg would put Lashley on the steel steps and try to throw another set at the head. The Hurt Business would come to the aid of Lashley with Kendo Sticks, and Goldberg made short work of them. Goldberg nailed some kendo stick shots to Lashley, before spearing Lashley off the stage for the win.
Even with a heated storyline and a hardcore ruleset – it couldn’t make up for the fact that Goldberg is 54 and didn’t have much in his prime when it came to anything but squash matches. It told an okay story, but was way too long and Match Rating: 1.75/5 (* 3/4)
