LA Knight tends to talk his way into big-time match-ups on NXT, but it’s tough to find a more massive challenge than Odyssey Jones. The million dollar megastar had some choice words for the giant newcomer backstage and used an Andre Chase outburst to launch an attack on Jones. Can Knight topple the impressive Jones? Will Andre Chase give him some pointers on how to win?
LA Knight & Odyssey Jones Both Have Something To Prove
Jones is quickly becoming a fan favorite within NXT 2.0. His size, agility and charisma makes him a one of a kind talent – though he’s still rather untested in the ring. Tonight will show how far he’s come since his loss to Carmelo Hayes, and LA Knight needs this win after dropping two in one night on the debut of NXT 2.0.
Knight was dwarfed in terms of size in this match, and would almost get cornered early on. Jones would stalk Knight around the ring, before taking a punch to the face. Knight would stick and move, before being caught and thrown around the ring like he was a cruiserweight. He’d head to the outside, and seeing as he’s not Keith Lee – Jones walked out to get him instead of diving.
Back in the ring, Knight tried to get an advantage with a drop toehold in the corner. Getting the giant more grounded would help Knight’s chances, and some heavy strikes would help him gain some momentum in this match. However when he went for a cover, he’d only get a one count, before trying and failing to body slam Jones.
Jones would hit a gutbuster, and Andre Chase hit the ring and got punched out. Knight took advantage with a neckbreaker, and Chase held the foot of Jones down to help Knight get the pinfall.
A simple but solid David vs. Goliath match, with Goliath filling the babyface role for once. They would push the feud of Chase & Jones along, while helping to have Knight look like a wily veteran. Match Rating: 2.75/5 (** 3/4)
After this match, we’d catch up with Cameron Grimes who was wanting a lady to work as his manager. Pete Dunne would interrupt and challenge him to a match – but Grimes just slipped away to hit on some candidates.
