The war between both AEW and WWE has only just begun. A lot of AEW wrestlers and higher-ups have acknowledged that this is a competition between both companies. However, WWE looks like they are trying to ignore the company that is nipping at their ankles. Now that AEW is starting to catch up to WWE in viewership and ticket sales. Veteran referee, Mike Chioda, has now commented on what he thinks Vince is thinking about AEW.
This is what Mike Chioda had to say about Vince
Speaking on Monday Mailbag, this is what he had to say:
“Yes, I think he is. He always wants to be on top. I have seen him demolish and step on a lot of territories around the country and around the world. He wants to be #1. Everybody wants to be #1 whether it’s in their sport, in their career, or owning a company. I definitely think he’s very concerned right now because they’re picking up some good talent. I know Vince. Vince is concerned.”
Mike goes on to say, “AEW’s ratings are going up. People are interested. I’m interested in watching AEW. They’re selling out arenas. The energy in the crowd is just phenomenal now. They went from one show to two shows now. Everybody is talking AEW.”
The changes on Raw and Smackdown do kind of prove Mike’s theory
Looking at Raw and Smackdown recently, it looks like WWE are worried about AEW. The matches on the weekly shows are better than the PPV matches. Even some bigger matches are being taken off of PPVs and put onto the weekly show instead. This alone could prove that WWE is worried about AEW. But this new information from Mike could show how Vince sees AEW.
