Last night at Survivor Series, the main event saw the WWE Champion Big E take on WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. Seeing as both men are top champions in WWE, both men gave 110% in the match, and ended with some fantastic performance. It showed why both men are in the roles they are in, but fans still seem to doubt Roman Reigns in the ring – something which Big E hopes to clear up.
Big E Claims Wrestling With Roman Reigns Makes You Realize How Good He Is
Following his first main event PPV match, Big E would speak with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated about the match. Big E had a long road to the top again, as despite being a former NXT Champion. Normally he’d be in tag team or trios matches, or occupying a bodyguard role. This made the main event all the more important, as he’d state in this comment..
“This was my first singles main event on a pay-per-view, and to do it with Roman means even more. Our paths were different, but after the match, we reflected on spending our days, circa 2010, together in that FCW warehouse. We were not making much money but we were very hungry.
His strength and athleticism are real. He even got me up in that powerbomb. I thought he was going to bail on it, but he had that second surge to get me up. Until you’re in the ring with him, people just don’t fully realize how good he is. He’s an incredible performer on an incredible run, and you can’t take away anything from him.“
Reigns Has Proved Himself Over His Reign, But Some Fans Will Never Accept The Truth
Since he claimed the WWE Universal Championship over a year ago, Roman Reigns has consistently stolen shows with just about every defense. From Jey Uso to Edge to Cesaro to Daniel Bryan, Reigns has faced a wide array of opponents and was able to beat them all. He’s faced some incredible wrestlers, but after a while you need to accept that he’s the common factor in all these matches.
Much like John Cena before him, Reigns has a reputation with fans that he will never shake. He’s the chosen champion of WWE, the man who will be the face of the company, and that has fans feeling his position was not earned. The hard work played out before our eyes, and while his initial push was too soon – there’s little denying he belongs on top.
