During a time when the WWE is struggling with ratings, selling tickets to their weekly shows, and putting out a enjoyable product for the fans, it makes sense they would use some of the biggest names like the Rock to draw fans in.
Recently, the WWE has been dropping hints that the Rock would appear at this year’s Survivor Series, and continued to do so throughout the pay-per-view.
Fans reportedly waited after the show, expecting him to appear at any moment only to have their hopes dashed.

25th anniversary
It made sense for fans to expect the Rock to appear since it was the 25th anniversary of his debut at Survivor Series, and the WWE just gave a couple of helpful nudges to further entice fans.
This doesn’t mean the company suckered the fans in as they never promised the Rock would be there. They just dropped some well timed hints.
Still, that hope probably helped sell a lot of tickets for Survivor Series as well as add a few more viewers than normally would’ve tuned in.
Unfortunately for the fans looking forward to seeing the Rock, he was reportedly out of the country shooting a movie during the PPV, so he was never scheduled to appear.
Add in the fact it’s more difficult to travel with quarantine regulations in various countries, and it makes it even more difficult to expect him to fly in at the last minute.
Probable WrestleMania appearance
With news that Brock Lesnar is no longer suspended by the WWE, it looks likely that if we do see the Rock in a WWE ring it’ll be around WrestleMania of next year.
There’s been plenty of reports that Lesnar will renew his feud with Roman Reigns at the Royal Rumble, which would conclude at WrestleMania.
Other news has said the WWE wants to ensure Reigns is considered the greatest ever by the end of his run, and that means he’s likely to break some records and hold the Universal Championship for another year or two.
This would coincide with next year’s WrestleMania where the Rock will be Reigns’ final test to prove himself ass the best with yet another win.
All that being said, there’s always the possibility the Rock will appear in small segments here and there on Smackdown either via satellite or pop in when he’s not abroad.
Until then, we expect the WWE to continue teasing possible appearances to get fan interest, but if they’re not careful they’ll burn the fans out and we won’t care when the Rock does appear.
