When it comes to squandered potential within WWE, Karrion Kross is fairly high on the list. His second run as NXT Champion saw him prove that he could hang with the best the brand had to offer while being absolutely unstoppable, but midway through he was losing three matches on Monday Night RAW. Once he was formally called up, he had lost his manager in Scarlett, and was given a horrible new attire – and then released. Fans expect him to land on his feet once his 90 day non-compete clause is up. However, he’s now involved with his first post-WWE project, which is an action movie.
Karrion Kross To Focus On A Movie Before His 90 Days Are Up
This news was first dropped by Fightful Select, which noted that Kross will be starring in a currently untitled action movie. It’s release is slated for late 2022. This isn’t the first time Kross has acted, having been in the TV series ‘Before the Dark ‘ in 2014. Kross has always shown some nice character work, especially in Impact Wrestling – and showed some potential in WWE NXT as well.
However, unless he gets onboard with whatever Windham Rotunda is cooking – fans could just see him looking more like a Dollarama brand Jason Statham. Kross in an action movie will likely just be a tough and intense character, nothing groundbreaking is expected. However, this is a smart move, and a good way to remain productive before he is able to get back into the ring.
Possible Homes In Professional Wrestling For Kross
Right now, only lucha libre promotion AAA has expressed interest in bringing Kross in. His messy exit from Impact Wrestling might have burned that bridge. Kross has requested his release, and it was not granted. A bigger rift came with Kross being unwilling to blade during a First Blood match with Eddie Edwards. For once the company is more at fault than the talent, but this experience might have made him unwilling to return back.
AEW is the other big player, which might not have a spot on the roster for something with his skillset. MLW is signing up anyone with a pulse, making them a possible location. AJPW & Pro Wrestling NOAH are other possible landing spots, should Kross be interested in working in Japan. NJPW are also building up their US roster, and Kross could be a good fit.
