Conor McGregor sure is staying active during his broken leg recovery, at least on Twitter. He recently took to the social media platform to discuss the ins and outs of the gruesome leg break he suffered fighting Dustin Poirier in July this year.
“In my last camp I’d a severely damaged left leg. Many of my sessions consisted of starting in open guard bottom. And staying there. Full rounds remaining on bottom. I was beating people up until they backed away from me. It then translated to the fight. True story.”
McGregor Claims He Knew Leg Would Break vs Poirier, Promises to Settle Feud
This came in response to another Tweet, which pointed out that, statistically, McGregor landed more strikes from his back than Poirier did from the top.
“People really don’t pay attention lol ….how are you on your back an land more cleaner strikes then the one on top my guy Connor was puttin work while on his back lets be real”
McGregor and his team have long maintained that he had issues with his leg leading up to the fight, and the break occurred in the precise location that had given them so much trouble.
“Same leg, same spot. I attribute it to why I wasn’t in as much shock as Chris/Anderson where [sic].
I knew something may happen in advance. Chris was upset with my quote. Felt I was aiming at him. I was not. If any constellation [sic] to my reaction, It was because id a heads up it may snap.”
McGregor claims that the bad blood between him and Poirier – which showed no signs of existing until McGregor lost to Dustin Poirier earlier in the year – is still not settled. Conor plans on settling the score soon.
“His head was sorer, my leg was sorer. I feel good on that. Not to say his leg wasn’t busted either tho. I had that thigh well minced. I feel it’s just simply not settled yet. Is the fairest response I can give.”
“The Notorious” finished up his Twitter session by posting a photo of the damage to Poirier’s face in the immediate aftermath of the fight, revealing the damage he claimed he had delivered from his back.
“Really nasty elbows and upkicks for sure. That or maybe a really annoying blue bottle was around him after the fight, lol.
Make no mistake they are not looking forward to what is coming. I will be back and it will be settled. Once and for all.”
Conor is promising a return to the UFC in 2022, but he’ll have to fix his broken leg first. Do you want to see McGregor vs Poirier 4? Let us know in the comments.
