For the last couple of years, it looks like the WWE can’t do much right and things appear to be getting worse or just weirder if the latest rumors about this past Raw are true.
After a few weeks’ build, Becky Lynch defended the Raw Women’s Championship against Liv Morgan in the show’s main event and it was the best match of the night.
It was a great back and forth and should’ve had the crowd more involved, but oddly enough we rarely got to see the fans.
It’s been a normal aspect of Raw for weeks as when the crowd is shown they’re either sitting quietly as raucous cheers are heard, or we see empty seats the lighting tries to hide.
But this main event was one fans have been waiting for, and while they were excited and trying to cheer the pair on they were allegedly told to remain seated by WWE security.
Fan interaction is key
One of the best memories I have of wrestling was during the Attitude Era where the fans were beyond fired up and had signs and deafened us watching through the television.
Then following the Thunderdome Era, wrestlers across the companies talked about how awesome it was to be in front of fans again and getting their reactions.
So, it’s only normal the WWE would tell fans to stay seated, curtailing their enthusiasm.
On Busted Open Radio, Bully Ray shared his thoughts on the tweets he was seeing about this, and he wasn’t gentle.
“I’m getting tweets toward the end of the show where security is telling people to sit down. It’s f***ing ridiculous. Let me just say it… it’s f***ing ridiculous. A main event is in the ring and nobody’s standing, nobody’s cheering, nobody’s popping. It’s the main event of a Monday Night RAW and you’re not going buckwild?”
Since this was a championship match and the best of the night, it’s understandable the fans should be excited for it and allowed to show it, and he voiced his thoughts on that as well.
“Either you suck as a city, which I don’t think Memphis does, or there are people in that building who are telling you to sit down, thus taking all the fun out of it. If I’m at home and I’m watching that main event from last night, I’m like, ‘Wow, there’s really nothing going on here. These people are not excited. These women must suck.’”
What do you think? Did the WWE tell fans to remain seated and why would they do that? Let us know below in the comments.
